Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to manage all incoming and outgoing inventory activities while ensuring inventory accuracy, material availability, and efficient inventory control processes.
This role is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels, coordinating inventory movements, supporting manufacturing operations, and helping ensure finished goods, direct materials, and consumables are available to meet production and customer demands.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, inventory management experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Logistics teams.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Control
Manage inventory tracking systems to accurately record deliveries, shipments, transfers, and inventory levels.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory data within inventory management systems and spreadsheets.
Monitor inventory levels for finished goods inventory (FGI), direct materials, and consumables to ensure adequate supply.
Analyze daily inventory activity to anticipate shortages and potential supply disruptions.
Perform cycle counts, inventory audits, and year-end physical inventories to maintain inventory accuracy.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances.
Warehouse Organization & Material Flow
Develop and maintain an organized inventory location and storage mapping system.
Ensure inventory locations are clearly identified and maintained for operational efficiency.
Verify part numbers, quantities, and receiving documentation against packing slips and purchase orders.
Ensure proper storage methods and special handling requirements are followed.
Coordinate receiving and distribution of special orders to the appropriate departments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Purchasing to identify inventory shortages and expedite material replenishment.
Collaborate with Manufacturing teams to support production schedules and material requirements.
Work closely with Logistics teams to coordinate deliveries and outbound shipments to optimize operations.
Communicate effectively with Supply Chain and Operations teams to support business objectives.
Supplier & Inventory Optimization
Develop and maintain relationships with consumables suppliers.
Support implementation of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs where appropriate.
Propose and implement strategies to improve inventory procedures and reduce costs.
Analyze inventory demand trends and support future inventory planning initiatives.
Monitor storage capacity and space utilization to anticipate future warehouse needs.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Develop inventory metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Prepare reports for leadership regarding inventory levels, inventory accuracy, and process efficiency.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout inventory and supply chain operations.
Safety & Compliance Qualifications
Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations related to material handling and warehouse operations.
Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
Support safety initiatives and best practices across the facility.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory control, inventory management, warehouse operations, or a similar role.
Experience with inventory management systems and inventory forecasting strategies.
Experience conducting:
Cycle counts
Physical inventories
Year-end inventory counts
Inventory variance analysis
Experience establishing inventory locations and warehouse organization systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Strong understanding of inventory control procedures and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
Inventory or supply chain certifications are a plus.
