Pay: $22/hr-$26/hrShift: 1st Job Summary: The brake press operator is responsible for setting up and operating a press brake machine to bend and shape sheet metal according to design specifications, ensuring each piece produced meets quality standards by precisely aligning materials, selecting appropriate tooling, and monitoring the bending process while reading and interpreting blueprints to accurately. They will also perform routine maintenance on the machine and inspect finished products for defects. Duties/Responsibilities but not limited to:
• Reading blueprints: Studying technical drawings and specifications to understand the required bends and dimensions of the metal piece. • Machine setup: Selecting and installing the correct tooling (punches and dies) based on the material and desired bend angle. • Material positioning: Accurately aligning and placing the sheet metal on the press brake. • Programming the machine: Using CNC controls to set the bending parameters like pressure, angle, and back gauge position. • Operating the press brake: Initiating the bending process and monitoring the machine during operation. • Quality inspection: Measuring and inspecting finished parts to verify they meet specifications, including checking for defects and burrs. • Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving any issues that arise during the bending process • Maintenance: Performing routine cleaning and lubrication of the press brake
Required Skills/Abilities: • Mechanical aptitude: Understanding how the press brake operates and the mechanics of bending metal • Blueprint reading: Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately • Precision measurement: Using measuring tools like calipers and micrometers to ensure precise dimensions • Attention to detail: Maintaining consistent quality by carefully monitoring the bending process • Basic math skills: Calculating angles and measurements needed for bending • Computer skills: Familiarity with CNC controls and programming Education, Experience, Requirements: • High school or general equivalent • 2-year degree or 5 years equivalent work experience
Other Requirements: • Ability to work with minimal supervision • Self-starter Work environment: • Manufacturing facility, standing for extended periods, Exposure to noise from machinery, and May involve lifting heavy materials.
